The New York graffiti scene is well acquainted with Todd James working under the pseudonym of ‘Reas”. Now he has spread his wings into ‘formal’ art with exhibitions all around the world.
James has a unique highly coloured, jokey style which he calls “horrible cartoons”. His world is populated by pampered women in domestic, but vaguely erotic, situations, lurking half-disguised terrorists and monstrous cartoon-style war machines.
The messages are somewhat obscured by the simplistic style and primary colours but a hint of acid remains.
