We had a chat with him ahead of his guest slot on our radio show.

Firstly tell us a little bit about yourself – where are you from and how did you get into music?

Im actually from Sheffield in the UK, I’ve been into music since an early age mostly with my Mums influences. I always had her LPs on the go when I was around 6-7 years old. Kraftwerk, Joy Division, Depeche Mode mainly all the early electronic bits.

The label is now coming up to 4 years old in December, I started the label mainly to experiment with new sounds and focus on bringing fresh artists to the music industry on my own imprint.

What is the concept behind dilate and does it have a music policy?

The concept behind “Dilate” is all about growth. The label name tells the story starting from something small and evolving into something much bigger.

What has been your favourite artist or release on the label so far?

This is nearly impossible to answer because there has been so many amazing releases I couldn’t just pick one out.

1523142_10152141085197482_1278343010_oWhat advice would you give to someone wanting to set up their own label?

My advice would be to anyone wanting to achieve a personal  goal or achievement, just make sure you put your life and soul into it and don’t quit! It wont happen over night but the key is to stick at it and take as much positives in as possible. Anything is achievable!!!

You are also an artist/producer yourself, so which is more important, your own music or the label?

I suppose I would describe it like having two little children, they’re both equally as important to me as each other. I’ve spent a long time moulding “Dilate Records” into a respectable record label which has not been easy at times but feel I’ve gained a lot of respect & knowledge from good friends in the industry which makes it all worth the while. This year I’ve got a lot of my own “Evans” productions coming out which I’m very excited about too.

What do you have coming up, on Dilate, and for your self as an artist, in the near future?

Okay so on Dilate we have our May release Mainro – 0.20 with remixes from (Marc Popacke & Savaggio) then July time a beautiful ep from Solemn Eye with (Vonda7 & Silky) on the package. For my “Evans” productions I’ve got music coming out on Clouds Above with Echonomist on the remix, Click Records with a huge Martin Roth Remix, and also an Evans Remix I’ve been working hard on for Motek. Ive also been asked to do a remix on Sashas, Last Night On Earth label which I can’t wait to start later on in the year.

Tell us about the guest mix on CC radio – how did you put it together and what is included in there? Any exclusives?

Well first of all thank you to Claire for allowing me the time and space on your show. The guest mix was put together by choosing a list of tracks with beautiful sound quality and feeling in mind, choosing tracks which sound super cool and hit in all the right places is the deciding factor.
