giorgia 8 vocalsHi Giorgia, thanks for talking to us! Firstly, tell us how it all started for you – how and when did you get into electronic music?

I had a classical education and I grew up listening to a lot of classical, rock and pop music… and of course Björk, one of my favourite artists! She influenced me strongly because she created a unique sound between pop and electronic music. Then I got some albums from my friends and I started to listen to artists like Ellen Allien, Apparat, Autechre and The Chemical Brothers, amongst others. After that I really fell in love with this new sound. So I decided to buy new equipment to produce this kind of music and I bought a sound card, a laptop, synthesizers and Ableton live

How would you describe your sound and who are your musical influences?

I am big lover of melodies and my music is a mix between deep , techno and pop music…in this period my influences are Chopin, The Cure, Dj Koze and Just Her.

giorgia 6 toysYou have a unique concept of including some musical ‘TOYS’ in your live sets and videos, tell us a bit more about that?

I truly love sound toys, especially vintage ones and I do believe that if you play with unusual magic objects, sounds become even more fascinating. Using colors in music is fundamental to me.

Do you ever DJ or do you only perform live? Which do you prefer and why?

I am a musician, I studied classical guitar, I used to play with manny bands in the past but I’ve never performed as a DJ. I think it’s something completely different, I like to play my own music and even when I had a band, for me it was already very strange to even imagine playing covers . The best part of my job is to compose my own music and to share it with people. I really respect the job of a DJ, I think It’s a very hard job at that, but it’s one that’s very different from live production or live performance.

giorgia 5What is your process for producing music and what equipment do you use? Do you have the live performance in mind when writing music in the studio?

Travelling a lot , I don’t have always the time to be in my studio with my synthesizers and I use to keep the ideas with ableton…For me everything starts from a melody that I have in my mind,  than I open my ableton and I record the main melody. After that I write all the parts for the other instruments to create the arrangement and in the end I make the groove.  When I finally come back in my studio I record everything with my analogue synths. In studio I have few synths but I really love them..Sub37 moog, Sh2 roland, ms2000 korg, juno 106 roland, tr8 roland and my new baby ob6 dave smith.  About my live set the process is different,  I don’t use to play live my tracks but  I keep only some parts from the original tracks and I completely change the arrangement … I record some parts in studio, as the bassline and the kick and I add some parts live: voice, pad, snare, hi hat, percussions, theremin, toys.

giorgia 4What do you have coming up in the near future in terms of releases and gigs?

I am working on my LP  and I hope to finish it as soon as possible 🙂 so at the moment I am focusing all my energies on this project and on a new live set  with my brother, he’s a double bass player.

Tell us about your guest mix on CC radio – how did you put it together and what is included in there? any exclusives or surprises?

The mix has been done putting together some of the tracks that I enjoyed in the last months. There are some tracks from Constant Circles, label that I really like and support, and also from Heinz Music, Cityfox, Connaisseur Recordings to name a few.

In there you will find an exclusive preview of my track “Deep Moan“ of the forthcoming release on Constant Circles.

Enjoy it!
