Pioneering outlet Loose Lips release a very special compilation, bringing together a range of artists from across the world, covering a wide range of music bound by the common thread of a passion for unique music from all horizons. From raucous soundsystem music of many forms through to pertinent poetry, crazy industrial experiments, chilling ambience and eccentric breakbeats.
This is an extremely special release for an equally special cause, as 100% of profits will be donated to the Ruff Sqwad Arts Foundation – started in 2017 by Grime pioneers Rapid and Slix (Prince Owusu-Agyekum and Ebenezer Ayerh) in order to help create opportunities for young people who have incredible talent but who are from a less advantaged background, thus potentially not having the chances to develop their skills to the fullest. The VA comes in two volumes; Vol.I containing the dancefloor pumpers, wild beats, uptempo and typically harder vibes, and Vol.II, delivering the more heady, contemplative, leftfield leaning tunes.
We have the first play of Follies – When You Say Magic taken from Vol.II, a stunning 9 minute journey through minimal leftfield techno, gradually building with layers of organic drums, moody piano chords and a trippy arpeggiated synth line, which come together into a beautifully emotional finale with a subtle hint of weirdness:
