Italian producer Lorenzo Calvio has held residencies at some of Milan’s foremost venues, and has released on labels like Suara and Moodmusic. He makes his debut on Constant Circles with a well rounded EP containing deep vocal house, melodic techno & stripped down tech, coming in early 2018. We invited him along for an interview and guest mix to get to know him a little better..
What is your background and how did you get into music?
Music is another member of my family from ever. I constantly listen to all different genres of music and I could never imagine my life without it.
You are based in Milan – what is the scene like there and how has it influenced your music & career?
Milano is a city where the underground music is not exactly something that is in the culture, but there are a few clubs that are doing great things and I hope that soon the situation will be better.
What is the most important thing for people to see when visiting Milan?
Milano is changing a lot and now we have a new skyline but the most beautiful thing is che Duomo.. it really is amazing.
You are making your debut on CC with ‘The Beginning’ which is a beautiful deep vocal track – what was your production process? Do you think your music falls into a certain genre?
My production process is something that changes all the time, depending on the project, and also depending on what is happening in my life.. and I love this about making music. This is why some times I am more techno oriented and other times I’m much more melodic.
You have released on some great labels including Moodmusic and Suara, what is your dream label to release on in the future?
My dream labels to release on in the future are Kompakt, Crosstown Rebels and All Day I Dream.
What has been the best gig you ever played and why?
My best gigs? No doubt: Sankeys in Ibiza (because I love that place) and Infestzioni Soniche Festival in Vieste in the south of Italy (because the everything was just perfect – people, location, sound system, & feeling on the dance floor).
