The eagerly awaited first release from Modula Records comes in the form on a 4 track vinyl only V.A consisting of 4 slices of musical goodness. Maksy, Steve Butcher, Mehlor and Ross McCormack make up the line up for this first outing for the label and they do not disappoint.

The ever impressive Maksy steps up with the A1 track “Now” and he is on his usual fine form here. A slightly more stripped back and deeper track from him than some may be used to from the previously Wu Dubs and Rube Goldberg series featured producer. Lush Chords and atmospherics are the order of the day here. A perfect summer day party track.

The A2 comes from Steve Butcher, in the form of “Flannel”. The Source Bar regular brings a lovely grooving little number which picks up the pace slightly from the first track with vocal cuts dotted around sharp drums, and subtle pads which combine with a punching bass line sure to get the feet moving!

B1 comes from Mehlor, one of many hotly tipped new producers emerging from the hotbed of UK talent that is Leeds. “Broken Note” works jazzy stabs and chords over a layer of atmospherics and skippy beat which instantly gets your head nodding along in appreciation. This one sure to get a great reaction whether listened to at home or in the club.

London based Ross McCormack is on fire recently, he has recently played at Fabric alongside another hotly tipped London DJ Pat Wilson for the clubs new FORMS series. Here he delivers his debut release as the B2 with “RKiNn”. This one is a standout with a lethal breakdown of grooving snares leading into a seriously rolling bass line and some choppy hats guaranteed to get hands in the air.
