Fast rising producer Elliot Adamson already made waves with his first LP, the highly acclaimed ‘TiKHAL’, which in just 24 hours, bagged the accolade of Annie Mac’s Hottest Record in the World with lead track ‘Victory Chop’ (also making Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist), regardless of industry lead times or stream exclusivity.

He now drops his second highly individual album this year, ‘I Watched Night Create Day’, on his IDEA label, marking the imprint’s fourth release, and the second in a trilogy of projects scheduled for this year. A killer trip through a maze of cutting edge sounds & genres, this LP oozes credibility and manages to be fully experimental while still delivering a coherent and emotional journey for the listener.

‘I Watched Night Create Day’ features Elliot’s own vocals. There are percussion-driven soundscapes like ‘Every Single Day’ and ‘Thoughts On My Mind’, the jazz-inspired ‘I Just Wanted To Breathe’ and the synthy explorations and rhythmic beats of ‘Love Lost’. There is a sense of freedom behind the production, creativity unleashed, producing a textured delivery of cross-genre cuts.

‘Creating the tracks on this album was like a form of therapy,’ Elliot says. ‘I wrote and recorded the vocals as reference tracks intending to have other people sing them, but in hindsight I feel they have more creative merit as the raw recordings from when I was in that headspace.’ Following TiKAL’s dancefloor-friendly stompers, ‘I Watched Night Create Day’ delivers a thoughtful experience which stays with the listener.

Celebrating 9 years of releasing quality music, Berlin based Redlight Music has compiled a radiant VVAA, involving a variety of artists from around the world and including a wealth of sub-genres across the spectrum of underground house & techno.

We have the first play of “Nights On Acid” – a beautiful analogue tinged cut from Julian Rosh. With a stripped down groove and cleverly worked synth lines, this track has a lovely deepness to it, but still retains enough drive to work the dance floor.

The spiral is a symbol of growth, development and evolution; an upward circle that can be drawn forever. For its S P I R A L S series, pioneering label Constant Circles curates a selection of rising artists, showcasing a diverse range of cutting edge sounds across the spectrum of electronic music.

Volume Seven of S P I R A L S takes us on a journey outside of current trends, wandering to the edges of electronica, left field and melodic house but never settling on any specific genre.

The opening track makes an instant impact, with the glitchy leftfield sounds of mysterious artist Algorythm providing a hint of breaks & old school rave, before label regular Onur Özman delivers a stunning melodic house track, creating beautiful soundscapes with warm layered synths and organic drums. Next up is newcomer and cutting edge live performer An On Bast, with a truly unique track, beautifully crafted with a stripped down groove and a stand out vocal hook. Joris Biesmans makes a welcome debut on the label, off the back of a stellar release on Alex Niggemann’s Aeon, with his trademark analogue sound, experimental yet filled with melody & emotion, before the release is closed out with a credible, stripped down raw house cut from up & coming UK producer Dubrovnik.

And so continues the story of a label built on the foundations of an unquenchable thirst for the underground and a yearning for the sounds of the future, the past and all that emerges in between. Unceasing. Limitless. A constant circle.

Berlin based Joris Biesmans has already made waves with releases on Aeon and Correspondant with his unique take on melodic House & Techno. He makes a welcome debut on Constant Circles with “Zelda” consisting of his trademark analogue sound, experimental yet filled with melody & emotion, part of our forthcoming SPIRALS compilation. We invited him along for an interview & a guest slot on the radio show.

What is your background and how did you get into music?
I started to make music when I was 13 (this was in 96’). My brother got this software called “Fastracker” from a friend and I got quite quickly hooked on this. It wasn’t until 2003 I got the money to get myself some decent speakers and some gear.

Where are you based and how has your home country or town influenced your music & career?
I live in Berlin since 2013 now. I come from a small village in Belgium called “Waltwilder” and I’m not sure how this influenced me although it obviously did! I guess growing up in a small village shuts you off a bit from what’s going on in the hip and cool places which gives you maybe less outside influence or something. I’m very sure it has its pro’s and cons!

How would you describe your sound – do you think your music falls into a particular genre?
mmmm… Colorful? I’m definitely not making music in a specific genre! I love exploring and experiment with melody as a key element.

You are making your debut on Constant Circles with “Zelda” – how did you approach this project and how did the idea come together?
This particular track came to life after a little jam with me Korg Volca’s. The bass comes from the Volca Bass and the synth is the Volca Keys. The little riff in the end comes from the ms 20 and when I was recording it, a friend of mine passed by. He was laughing because it reminded him of the game “Zelda”.

What is your production process – is each project different? And what are your key pieces of studio kit?
Well I never start from a template and I often change my routine so in that way, each project is different yes but I do have a set of equipment I’m always using. I love to work with hardware and my studio workhorses are the MS20, Moog Grandmother, Juno 106 and the Korg Radias alongside some analog delays and effects. When I use plugins, it’s usually the Arturia stuff. These are really good! As you can see I LOVE the vintage sounds.

What is your dream label to release on?
There are a few but if I had to choose 1 it might be Permanent Vacation

Can you tell us something most people won’t know about you?
On my left ear I hear about 60% of my right ear. Unfortunately I also have tinnitus on that side.

What do you have coming up in terms of releases and gigs?
I’m actually finishing a few EP’s (but I cannot say too much yet) . I’m doing a single on Future disco in July and I did a remix for Dharma on “Nothing Is Real” which should be out by the end of May.

How did you put together your guest mix for the radio show & what have you included – any exclusives or surprises?
I like to showcase a wide variety of music so I like to start slow at 105bpm an build up towards 125bpm. From ambient to techno, a bit for everyone. There is 1 exclusive bootleg version from Nina Simone in there by my friend and very talented producer Alex Medina!
